The Board of Supervisors wants to give landmark status to the shuttered St. Brigid Catholic Church, aiming to stop the archdiocese from tearing down the 105-year-old building and selling the land to settle priest abuse cases.
Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier introduced a resolution this week that urges the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board to consider an official historic designation for the structure.
Church officials say landmark status won’t affect the plan to sell the building to a developer.
