From Times Wire Reports
At least 500 people were forced to evacuate their homes after rain washed out roads and flooded homes, with the most severe flooding in the southern town of Keene. At least one person died in the state when a car went off a washed-out bridge, officials said.
Gov. John Lynch declared a state of emergency and called in 500 National Guard members for help.
Some of Keene’s major roads were under 4 to 6 feet of water, fire officials said, and part of its downtown was underwater.
