A California Highway Patrol officer shot and wounded a 39-year-old Panorama City man Monday after a car chase across the San Fernando Valley.
Officers began their pursuit east on the Ventura Freeway near Balboa Boulevard about 9 a.m., according to Officer Armando Clemente. The driver then headed north on the 405 Freeway and got off at Roscoe Boulevard.
At Terra Bella Street, the driver turned into a gated community and made a U-turn, allegedly speeding toward a CHP officer.
The officer fired, hitting the driver, who was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.
The man’s name was not released.
