Ebbers Can Remain Free During Appeal of Verdict

Bernard J. Ebbers, the former head of WorldCom Inc., will be allowed to remain free on bail as his attorneys appeal his March conviction on multiple counts of fraud, according to a ruling in New York.
U.S. District Judge Barbara Jones’ ruling means that Ebbers will not have to report to a medium-security prison in Oakdale, La., as scheduled Oct. 12.
