Army Won’t Pursue Charges in Porn Site Case

WASHINGTON — After a brief inquiry, Army officials said Wednesday that they did not have enough evidence to determine w hether U.S. soldiers had provided grisly photos of people killed in Iraq to a porn website in exchange for free access to it.
The pictures on the site show men, their faces visible and wearing what look like U.S. military uniforms, standing over a charred corpse, mutilated bodies and severed body parts.
Many photos have captions making fun of the corpses; one photo of a burned body is titled “Cooked Iraqi.”
Paul Boyce, an Army spokesman, said the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division had concluded there was insufficient evidence to pursue felony charges.
Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said that determination suggested that “the Army does not take this seriously.”
The site is owned by Chris Wilson, 27, of Lakeland, Fla. He said the Pentagon had not contacted him about the photos.
