Paralysis Is Probable for Ailing Iraqi Baby

An Iraqi infant brought to the United States for treatment of severe birth defects is “interactive and playful,” with good mental function, but will probably wind up using a wheelchair, her doctor said in Atlanta.
Dr. Roger Hudgins, a pediatric neurosurgeon who took the case for free, said that 3-month-old Noor al-Zahra would probably have paralysis or weakness in her legs after surgery.
