A Huntington Beach parolee has been charged with rape and attempted murder after being shot by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy while trying to flee the scene of the alleged crimes, authorities said Tuesday.
Sabree Muhammad Triplett, 27, on parole for drug violations, was interrupted by a deputy while raping a woman in his car in the parking lot of a bar late Saturday, said Susan Kang Schroeder, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney’s office. The woman jumped out of the car, Schroeder said, and Triplett nearly ran over her and the deputy before trying to flee.
Triplett was shot as he left the parking lot while evading another deputy, she said.
Triplett, whose condition was not released, is receiving medical treatment in jail, Schroeder said.
