Girl, 3, Drowns in Swimming Pool

A 3-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool after a gate was left open, authorities said Sunday. Anna Smallen of Aliso Viejo had been missing and was discovered in the pool about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
She was taken to a Mission Viejo hospital, where she later died.
