Update -- By now, the Ducks have read about them and watched them on television. The kids that might have saved Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, make their first trip to the Honda Center. Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere remembered how another wunderkind, Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin, torched them for all three of the Capitals’ goals in a 3-2 overtime victory. “You just got to be careful not to get caught watching them,” Giguere said. “I felt I got caught watching [Ovechkin]. We were all like, ‘Whoa, this guy is good.’ ” With a point, the Ducks can tie the NHL record held by the 1983-84 Edmonton Oilers for most consecutive games with a point to start the season.
