Gondola quits, stranding skiers

An electrical malfunction stranded skiers and snowboarders when it shut down a Sierra ski resort’s gondola for hours, resort officials said.
No injuries were reported.
The gondola, which has 168 eight-person cars with enclosed windows, shuttles winter sports enthusiasts between a site behind Harrah’s Tahoe and the heart of Heavenly’s mountain above Lake Tahoe’s south shore.
