Escape the city on a three-day package that’s as American as apple pie. The springtime Bounty of the County tour of the San Luis Obispo area includes accommodations, wine tastings, gourmet food and a couple of surprising extras: a gas voucher and a free homemade pie.
The deal: $299 per room for a two-night stay at the popular Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo. Besides lodging, guests receive a detailed itinerary for a self-guided tour that includes complimentary tastings at five area wineries and an olive oil farm. Other perks include a tour of a lavender farm, a gourmet lunch for two, a fruit pie, a bottle of Apple Farm BBQ Sauce to take home, daily wine receptions and a $20 gas voucher. The deal is valid Sundays through Thursdays beginning April 8 and ending June 13.
The hotel: The inn, which is in a garden setting, is designed to look like a Victorian farmhouse. Rooms have gas fireplaces, and most feature canopy beds.
Where is it? The hotel, at 2015 Monterey St., is off U.S. 101 in San Luis Obispo.
Reservations: Call (800) 255-2040 and ask for the Bounty of the County package or see www.applefarm.com. The special is based on availability.
