The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga will get $25,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts for programs aimed at introducing Southland students in grades 5-12 to “The Tempest” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
The grant is one of 35 given nationally to Shakespearean troupes under the 4-year-old Shakespeare in American Communities initiative, which “strives to introduce America’s youth to a lifelong engagement with the power of live theater, the wonders of the English language, and the masterpieces of William Shakespeare.”
