Philanthropist’s son enters guilty plea

Harry Rady, son of philanthropist Ernest Rady, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to one count of receiving firearms without a license. Court records show that Rady, 40, spent more than $10,000 on weapons, including three Romanian AK-47s, a semiautomatic assault rifle, and several other rifles and handguns.
Rady, of La Jolla, faces a possible five years in prison and $250,000 fine when he is sentenced Oct. 22.
His father made a fortune in the auto finance business; his charitable donations include $60 million to the children’s hospital in San Diego, which bears his name, and $30 million to UC San Diego.
