Update -- A scheduling quirk has resulted in a second game against a non-divisional opponent, the ArenaBowl champion Rush, a team that leads the Central Division. The Avengers committed a season-high five turnovers in a 66-31 loss at Chicago on April 1. They have done a much better job of protecting the football at Staples Center, with three turnovers in five home games. Safety Damen Wheeler, who leads the team with four interceptions, is expected to return after missing two games because of a neck injury. The Avengers are 5-1 when quarterback Sonny Cumbie does not have a pass intercepted. But they will be facing a team whose defense leads the Arena Football League in interceptions and whose coach, Mike Hohensee, is the third-winningest in AFL history.
