It’s no ‘Deal’ on Wednesdays

Two days into the new television season, NBC announced a prime-time schedule change Wednesday, saying it would replace the Wednesday-night edition of “Deal or No Deal” next month with “Phenomenon,” another competition series.
“Phenomenon” is scheduled to premiere at 8 p.m. Oct. 24 and will run for five weeks, then “Deal or No Deal” will return to the time slot, an NBC official said. “Phenomenon” is based on a hit Israeli series and will be hosted by Criss Angel and Uri Geller.
NBC also said it had ordered eight episodes of a competition series called “My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad” for midseason. It will feature families in a series of stunt-driven challenges. The series is produced by Mark Burnett Productions, responsible for producing such hit competition series as “Survivor,” “The Apprentice” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?,” and Reveille, which was founded by Ben Silverman, now co-chairman of NBC Entertainment.
