at Toronto 11, Boston 0: Vernon Wells hit two home runs and the Blue Jays roughed up Jon Lester. Wells hit a two-run shot off Lester in the first inning and a solo drive in the fifth for his team-leading 12th homer.
Detroit 4, at Kansas City 0: The Royals have their third losing streak of at least seven games this season. They have been outscored, 78-29, in losing 10 of 11 and falling a season-worst 19 games below .500.
Tampa Bay 5, at Chicago 3: Carlos Pena’s two-run single with the bases loaded capped a four-run eighth inning. It was the Rays’ 11th win in 14 games.
Cleveland 8, at Texas 7: Pinch-hitter Jamey Carroll singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Indians rallied from a six-run deficit.
Oakland 5, at Seattle 1: Dana Eveland made a smooth return to the majors, pitching shutout ball into the seventh inning. He had been sent down to triple-A Sacramento earlier this month after going 0-3 with a 10.59 earned-run average during a four-start span.
New York 5, at Baltimore 3: Carl Pavano won in his first major league start since April 2007.
at Angels 7, Minnesota 5: Vladimir Guerrero has hit into a major league-high 26 double plays this season.
