Court upholds election results
A state appeals court has declined to invalidate the results of a special election last year that put Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen into office, rejecting claims by her leading opponent that a recount of votes was conducted improperly.
In the election, Trung Nguyen was first declared the winner by seven votes, but a recount found that Janet Nguyen won by three.
The court found that Trung Nguyen did not show any evidence that a different method of recounting ballots would have made him the winner.
Both Nguyens are again running for the seat for its regularly scheduled election in June.
