* Seattle 5, at San Diego 2: Jarrod Washburn won for the first time in eight starts and the Mariners were victorious despite stranding a franchise-record 18 baserunners. The Mariners (29-50) have the worst record in the majors and the Padres (32-49) are tied with the Nationals for the second-worst.
* at Oakland 4, San Francisco 1: Jack Hannahan drove in two runs and the A’s extended their winning streak against the Giants to seven games.
* New York Mets 15-0, New York Yankees 6-9: Carlos Delgado drove in nine runs in the opener at Yankee Stadium. Sidney Ponson shut down the Mets in the nightcap at Shea Stadium.
* at Chicago White Sox 10, Chicago Cubs 3: Nick Swisher’s grand slam capped a seven-run third inning against Ryan Dempster.
* Atlanta 4, at Toronto 0: Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer and Jair Jurrjens (8-3) pitched a career-high eight innings. The Braves posted only their 12th road victory, the lowest total in the majors.
* at Detroit 7, Colorado 1: Eddie Bonine (2-0) limited Colorado to five hits over eight innings. The defending NL champion Rockies have lost five in a row and six of their last seven. They have scored 11 runs in their last five contests.
* Tampa Bay 10, at Pittsburgh 5: Evan Longoria and Eric Hinske hit three-run homers off Jimmy Barthmaier and the streaking Rays quickly opened a seven-run lead.
* at Washington 4, Baltimore 2: Pinch-hitter Kory Casto doubled in the tiebreaking run in the seventh inning and scored on a single by Elijah Dukes.
* at Cleveland 6, Cincinnati 0: C.C. Sabathia (6-8) struck out 11 over eight innings, including his hero Ken Griffey Jr. three times. Grady Sizemore hit his 18th homer, drove in three runs and made a spectacular catch.
* at Kansas City 7, St. Louis 2: Alex Gordon drove in four runs with a homer and a bases-loaded double. Gordon’s solo shot off Joel Pineiro (2-4) put the Royals ahead, 5-0, in the fifth inning en route to their sixth consecutive victory.
* at Minnesota 7, Milwaukee 6: Joe Mauer hit a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning and the Twins won for the 10th time in a row, all against NL teams. The Twins swept Washington, Arizona and San Diego before facing the Brewers, and improved to 13-3 overall against the NL.
* Boston 6, at Houston 1: Daisuke Matsuzaka (9-1) limited the Astros to two hits in five scoreless innings and the Red Sox won their first regular-season game in Houston. J.D. Drew hit a three-run homer and Mike Lowell added a two-run single in the ninth
* at Texas 8, Philadelphia 7: Milton Bradley hit a tiebreaking homer and Chris Davis homered in his first major league start. Josh Rupe (3-1) pitched 2 1/3 innings for the win and C.J. Wilson worked the ninth for his 17th save.
* at Florida 3, Arizona 1: Ricky Nolasco (8-4) pitched eight effective innings and Cody Ross homered in an NL game.
* at Dodgers 6, Angels 0: Chan Ho Park (3-2) shut out the Angels over his six innings and Andre Ethier hit a three-run homer.
