Mayor is cleared of corruption

State Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown on Tuesday cleared Mayor Jerry Sanders of corruption allegations by City Atty. Michael Aguirre over Sanders’ alleged role in approving construction of an office building near a municipal airport.
Aguirre in 2007 had accused the mayor and his staff of “a corrupt course of action” in securing approval for the Sunroad Centrum 12 building near Montgomery Field. In response, Sanders asked Brown for an investigation.
The Sunroad building, under construction, was taller than the FAA considers advisable near an airport. The height has been reduced.
