Baby sleeping with parents dies

For the third time this month, a young child in Riverside has died while sharing a bed with her parents.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday morning when police were called by Kaiser hospital reporting an unconscious 2-month-old girl in the emergency room. The baby died despite attempts to resuscitate her, said Riverside Police Sgt. Ed Collins.
Officers went to the family’s home on Doverwood Drive and discovered that the child had been sleeping with her parents and was discovered unresponsive in the morning. The investigation is continuing, and the parents have not been charged with any crime.
In unrelated incidents a few weeks earlier, a 6-week-old girl and a 7-week-old boy were found dead after sharing a bed with their parents.”It’s never a good idea to sleep with a baby because of what could happen,” Collins said. “The parents can roll over on them or the child rolls into the parent or into the bedding and the child suffocates as a result.”
