Sunstein is open to all ideas

Re “Obama pick comes under scrutiny,” Jan. 26
As a former student of proposed regulatory czar Cass R. Sunstein, I am compelled to note that his critics mischaracterize his political views.
Like his great friend, President Obama, Sunstein has an intellect wide and generous enough to consider all ideas before deciding which best benefit the American public. This is a strength, not a weakness.
Our government has suffered under eight years of officials who refused to consider any ideas but those from their inner circle. Those who would oppose Sunstein for his openness to the work of accomplished conservative colleagues should consider that.
Moreover, his credentials as a progressive are firm. A sound idea that should become the law of the land can withstand scrutiny and debate.
Sunstein is precisely the change we should look for in the new regulatory czar.
