Beckman Coulter Inc., the Fullerton-based maker of equipment used in medical tests, purchased Olympus Corp.’s diagnostics business for $792 million, Chief Executive Scott Garrett said.
Acquisition of the Tokyo-based company’s diagnostics systems gives Beckman the world’s biggest maker of endoscopes. The deal will close in the third quarter and add to Beckman Coulter’s earnings in 2010, the company said.
