Miami Beach parties: A Quick Takes item in Wednesday’s Calendar section said that the economic downturn had contributed to slow ticket sales for New Year’s Eve events in Miami Beach hosted by R&B; singer John Legend and actress Lindsay Lohan. It is typical for New Year’s Eve parties hosted by Opium Group to sell out the afternoon of Dec. 31, and they did for the 2008 parties, spokeswoman Vanessa Menkes said. The item also said that Legend would perform at the party he hosted, but he didn’t, according to Menkes and Legend’s website.
