Re “Test prep book is SAT-ire,” Dec. 26
A comedy writer penning a SAT test preparation book is just the answer to the dumbing-down epidemic -- not only in American education but in an American culture that is more and more averse to thinking.
I’m not against a good laugh in the right forum -- but let’s say, for instance, a wannabe rocket scientist takes the SAT and can only do it with humor-laden text or yo-mama-isms. I hope such a dude never advances to designing or engineering the aircraft I’m riding on.
There always will be buyers looking for fun and easy ways to get out of something. In this case, it’s good old-fashioned -- and irreplaceable -- study.
