Boston 4, at Toronto 1: Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run homer and Clay Buchholz pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn his first major league win in more than a year for the Red Sox. David Ortiz added a two-run double for Boston.
Minnesota 5, at Texas 3: Jason Kubel hit a tiebreaking three-run homer and the Twins put a damper on Josh Hamilton’s first home game in more than six weeks after being on the disabled list.
at New York 5, Detroit 3: Mark Teixeira hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh for the Yankees, who trailed 3-1 against rookie Luke French, then started a comeback with an unearned run in the fifth.
Seattle 6, at Cleveland 2: Felix Hernandez gave up two runs in eight innings, and the Mariners’ Franklin Gutierrez homered against his former team.
Tampa Bay 8, at Kansas City 7: Evan Longoria and Pat Burrell hit two-run homers in consecutive innings and also had RBI singles for the Rays, who ended a four-game road losing streak.
at Oakland 7, Angels 3: The Athletics broke a four-game home losing streak to the Angels.
