Where you’ve seen him: John Ventimiglia

Among John Ventimiglia’s more than 60 film and television credits are “Bullets Over Broadway,” “Party Girl,” “Cop Land” and “Jesus’ Son.” He’s particularly proud of the little-seen “On the Run,” with good friend and “Sopranos” costar Michael Imperioli. In one of his favorite scenes from that HBO series, his Artie almost provokes a fight (with a character played by Imperioli) before Tony Soprano slaps him. “Artie starts to cry. He says, ‘If I had hair …’ Tony says, ‘You could have hair like Casey Kasem, it wouldn’t make a difference!’ ” To make the mob show scene ring true, “I turned to Jimmy [Gandolfini] and said, ‘Just slap me.’ He said, ‘I knew you were going to say that.’ And he slapped me with those big hands … about 12 times. But he slapped me lovingly.”
