Thanksgiving and Christmas airfares are expected to be 6% to 12% higher than last year, with planes flying near capacity. Below are samples of the lowest nonstop, round-trip fares, leaving Los Angeles on Nov. 22 and returning Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving and leaving Dec. 22 and returning Dec. 26 for Christmas.
American Airlines: LAX to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport — Thanksgiving $1,087, Christmas $633
United Air Lines: LAX to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport — Thanksgiving $672, Christmas $682
Delta Air Lines: LAX to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport — Thanksgiving $644, Christmas $644
Southwest Airlines: LAX to San Francisco International Airport — Thanksgiving $171, Christmas $199
