‘Mad Men’: Our wish list for the final season
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Sal (Bryan Batt, above left) will triumphantly -- and hopefully -- return for the 1969 Stonewall riots. And while he’s stuck in the melee, he’ll meet Bob Benson. Don’t fall for that winsome smile or those short shorts, Sal. Just run! Ask Pete if you don’t believe us. (AMC TV / Baltimore Sun)

What we want to see happen to Don, Peggy, Joan and the gang. Hey, we can dream. The season premiere is 10 p.m. April 13 on AMC.
Theories have been floating around for years that the series will symbolically end with that historical footnote -- and footprint. But the moon landing as a metaphor for Don’s triumph over his vices is too on-the-nose for creator Matthew Weiner and company. We see it more as a mid-season B-plot. (NASA / AFP/GETTY IMAGES)
OK, so maybe we’re slightly exaggerating when we say “Mad Men” made us bona fide 1960s history buffs. But we are “Mad Men” buffs, and we do know there will be plenty of historical references.
First up, the Vietnam War unrest, featuring an inevitable and dreadful visit from Dr. Rapist Greg Harris. Killing him off on the battlefield would be too easy, and for some twisted reason, the writers love to see Joan suffer. That’s okay. It’s always fun watching her pick herself up and walk it all off. Sally and her prissy boarding school friends pile into a pristine Beemer and head to Woodstock. What, you think this brat pack would go near a rundown VW van? They’re not that rebellious. (HENRY DILTZ / AFP/Getty Images)
