Bob Dylan to tour with Wilco, My Morning Jacket

Judging by the title of his new tour, Bob Dylan’s droll self-awareness remains intact. The singer-songwriter is joining younger acolytes Wilco and My Morning Jacket on what Dylan is deeming the AmericanaramA Festival of Music.

The exciting triple bill connects the lines between generations of American acts who use folk as a starting point to explore the full range of American music. Dylan, of course, needs no introduction. But teaming up with the experimental Chicago act Wilco and the Southern-soul explorers My Morning Jacket instantly makes this package tour one of the year’s must-see shows.

The tour starts June 26 in West Palm Beach, Fla., and ends Aug. 4 in Mountain View, Calif. The only L.A.-area date now is an Aug. 3 stop at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, with added guest Ryan Bingham.

Pre-sale tickets for those dates begin April 24. Dylan’s recent shows have received very mixed reviews -- some calling his gravelly, wandering vocals a brilliant deconstruction of his songs, others remarking that even recognizing the song can be tough.

Still, it’s Dylan. And now there are many good reasons to come out early.
