Kendrick Lamar takes to the sky in downtown L.A. for ‘Alright’ video

It may well be lonely at the top, but Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar seems to like it there. After filming his “King Kunta” video on a rooftop in his hometown, on Thursday he mounted a traffic light pole near L.A. Live downtown to shoot his latest video for the track “Alright” from his “To Pimp a Butterfly” album.
For the shoot, as MTV reports, Lamar was secured in a safety harness and suspended by cables from an overhead crane, but the raw footage posted on various websites shows the arm of the traffic light bounding up and down as he moves to the music.
Cars can be seen driving below him in the street while a crane-mounted camera sweeps in front of him.
Rap-Up.com previously reported that Lamar also did some additional acrobatic scenes in Oakland last week, during which he went upside down in a harness for more footage.
After 10 weeks, “To Pimp a Butterfly” is No. 34 on this week’s Billboard 200 Albums chart, having sold 585,000 copies.
“Alright” is a collaboration with Pharrell Williams. A release date for the “Alright” video has not been set, and there's no word on whether Lamar has any plans to use it as part of an audition reel for Cirque du Soleil.
