Big screen bout: ‘The Longshots’ vs. ‘The House Bunny’

Star Power ' The Longshots' Ice Cube has gone from chart-topping rapper, to actor, to writer-director-producer, with a series of hit family comedies to his name. Keke Palmer starred in “Akeelah & the Bee” and released an album of uptempo R&B songs. She’s been nominated for a SAG award and an NAACP Image Award and she was selected as one of ShoWest’s Rising Stars of the Year in 2007. 'The House Bunny' Anna Faris starred in all four “Scary Movie” comedies, as well as having small roles in critically acclaimed fare, such as “Brokeback Mountain” and “Lost in Translation.” The other sorority sisters have varying degrees of notoriety, but they’re all overshadowed by former “American Idol” finalist Katharine McPhee, in her largest acting role to date. McPheever lives again! WINNER: Faris and McPhee have their fans, but Ice Cube commands with his crossover appeal. He’s like a really tough Tim Allen.

Despite running over with musical talent, Ice Cube, Keke Palmer and Fred Durst all failed to provide a single for the soundtrack. What an oversight!

’ The House Bunny’

It’s only right that the producers tapped their fledgling actress to put her pipes to use on the soundtrack. McPhee recorded a cover of “I Know What Boys Like,” with the rest of the film’s main actresses on backing vocals.
