Hulu wants to stay in the business of awesome.
The Internet video subscription service has renewed its original series “The Awesomes” for a third season.
The new batch of episodes are expected to roll out sometime in 2015.
Beatrice Springborn, head of originals at Hulu, said its endurance was seen from the beginning.
“With a growing fan base from season to season and a cast featuring some of the funniest people on television, it was a natural decision for us to renew the show for a third season,” she said in a statement. (Guess we’ll have to take her word for it, since Hulu--like Netflix--doesn’t reveal its viewership data.)
The adult animated series from Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker centers on a team of oddball superheroes. Meyers serves as the voice of main character (and super-genius) Jeremy “Prock” Awesome. He’s joined by a ragtag group of characters voiced by the likes of Bill Hader, Rashida Jones and Ike Barinholtz, among others.
The series is in the thick of its second season, with new episodes premiering every Monday. It’s sophomore outing has introduced a cast of characters voiced by Amy Poehler, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon.
