Philippe the Original, also known as Philippe’s, may be known best for its French dip sandwiches. But Tuesday, it’s all about the chili.
The restaurant just north of downtown L.A. is giving away a free cup of Dolores chili to the first 500 customers who purchase any of Philippe’s French dip sandwiches. Philippe’s has been exclusively selling Dolores chili for decades, and this is the restaurant’s fifth annual free chili day.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m., customers will be given free chili vouchers they can redeem for chili with or without beans, cheddar cheese and onions.
The restaurant will also be raffling Dolores chili items and Philippe’s gift cards throughout the day.

I don’t judge if you eat Frito pie with your hands. I kind of like it. Follow me on Twitter @Jenn_Harris_
