Veterans Day freebies: Starbucks coffee, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and more

Businesses around the city are thanking veterans and active military personnel Tuesday, Veterans Day. To show their appreciation, some are offering everything from free coffee to burgers.
Here’s a rundown of some of the freebies. Be sure to call ahead to note limitations and restrictions.
Starbucks: The coffee giant is giving away free, tall brewed coffee to U.S. military veterans, those on active duty, and their spouses.
Krispy Kreme: The doughnut chain is offering a free doughnut and small coffee.
Denny’s: All active, inactive and retired military personnel can receive a free Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. until noon at participating locations.
Hooters: Military personnel can receive a free meal valued up to $10.99 with the purchase of a beverage.
Applebee’s, Chili’s, California Pizza Kitchen: All three restaurants are offering free meals from special Veterans Day menus.
Outback Steakhouse: Participating locations are offering a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage to all active and retired military personnel with valid military ID.
IHOP: The restaurant is giving away free red, white and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Red Robin: The burger chain is offering a free Red’s Tavern double burger and bottomless steak fries.
Red Lobster: Veterans and active military personnel can come in for a free appetizer through Thursday.
Golden Corral: The restaurant will offer a free dinner buffet, with beverage, from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Gordon Biersch Brewery, Rock Bottom, Old Chicago Pizza, ChopHouse & Brewery: All of these CraftWorks restaurants are giving away free craft beer.
