Saturday, Jan. 26

Fruit tree pruning

Master gardener Liza Go demonstrates the proper pruning of fig, citrus, passion fruit and other non-California-native fruit trees at the South Coast Botanic Garden’s rare fruit tree collection, 26300 Crenshaw Blvd., Palos Verdes Peninsula, 10 a.m. to noon, free to members or with general admission of $9 ($6 for seniors and students). Plant trading

Give — and take — a variety of plants and produce at the Plant Traders Inland Empire Ca Garden and Harvest Trading Community, which meets at various times and places around Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Native plant sale

The Theodore Payne Foundation’s annual winter sale of native plants and seeds runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 10459 Tuxford St. in Sun Valley. The sale includes many annuals and plants in large sizes. Members get 15% off plants, seeds and gear; non-members get 10% off. theodorepayne.org

Tomato workshop

Dave Freed, “The Tomato Guy,” is offering a free workshop on planting, pollination and self-watering techniques to boost yields from tomato plants and most household vegetables at the Orange County Coastkeeper Garden, focused on sustainable gardening and water conservation at 8520 E. Indoor plant care

Rainy weather has moved this workshop from Saturday to Sunday: A free workshop on caring for your indoor plants, including proper transplanting, placement and lighting, fertilizing and pruning will take place on Sunday at Fig Earth Supply, 3577 N.
