Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes east of Alpine in eastern San Diego County

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning 29 miles from Alpine, in eastern San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:49 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 2.5 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 31 miles from Tecate, Mexico, and 32 miles from San Diego Country Estates, Calif.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
