A 2-year-old girl was struck and killed by a big rig as she was walking in a crosswalk in Lancaster, authorities said.
The girl, identified as Teyonnie Brown, was crossing the intersection with her mother at Valley Central Way and Avenue J at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday when the incident occurred, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver of the big rig was making a right turn on a green light and did not see pedestrians in the crosswalk, Sgt. David Jennings told KTLA.
Teyonnie, who was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, was pronounced dead about 7:35 p.m.
The driver was not cited and there was no sign of alcohol or drugs, Jennings said. The incident was still under investigation.
