L.A. weather: Chance of mountain thunderstorms, gusty winds, downpours

An unstable air mass moving across the Los Angeles region could bring a chance of thunderstorms to local mountains and the Antelope Valley on Friday afternoon, forecasters warned.
The fast-moving weather system could cause gusty winds, lightning, brief downpours and even small hail across mountain areas in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Ventura counties, the National Weather Service said.
Sprinkles could be felt across the Southland as the system moved inland, after which a ridge of high pressure was forecast to take over, bringing with it a slight warming trend over the weekend.
Daytime temperatures on Friday will be in the mid-60s to lower 70s with winds around 15 mph in the evening, according to the weather service.
Temperatures over the weekend will be a bit warmer, but not by much with fog and low clouds lingering in the mornings.
