The Metro Blue Line was suspended Thursday morning after a pedestrian was found dead under the train, fire officials said.
It is unclear whether the train struck the pedestrian, but firefighters found the person under the train about 6:36 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Long Beach Avenue, said Margaret Stewart, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Train service was stopped as firefighters worked to recover the body.
Service was suspended between Washington Boulevard and Vernon Avenue. Metro officials said riders should expect delays and allow for extra time.
Metro riders were urged to use the Green Line to the Silver Line. For alternative routes, visit Metro online.
