After an extensive search in Highland Park on Wednesday, Los Angeles police and FBI agents have detained a homicide suspect who was reportedly found hiding in a trash can.
The man had been spotted about 7:30 a.m. riding a bicycle in the Arroyo Seco wash near the 110 Freeway and North Avenue 55, said LAPD Officer Christopher No.
The man, who was not immediately identified, ran into a nearby tunnel, prompting authorities to close down the area for the search effort, which included K-9 units.
The suspect was tracked down after police received several calls from residents who reported seeing a man running through their backyards, No said.
A spokeswoman said the FBI agents involved in the search were part of a fugitive task force.
