Wisconsin pilot killed during air show identified

Wisconsin authorities released the name of the pilot killed Sunday during the Stevens Point annual air show.
William M. Cowden, 47, of Menomonie, was flying a 1993 Russian-built Yak-55M, a single-seat, single-engine plane that crashed in a wooded area about 1,000 feet east of the Stevens Point airport runway, according to a Monday news release from Stevens Point police.
Cowden was performing aerial maneuvers when he crashed, according to the release.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one else was injured, police said.
The cause of the crash is unclear.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, police said.
