Readers React: Self-driving car vs. bullet train

California’s high-speed rail system will utilize obsolete technology to go between two points on fixed rails. (“Look, Ma, no hands: Google to test 200 self-driving cars,” May 28)
At the train terminal, the passenger will need a car to reach his final destination. Instead of boarding a train, most people will embrace the 21st century technology of a self-driving car that will operate on any paved road.
Trains are great at hauling freight — but not people.
