HB Silver picks up two more wins

The HB Silver boys’s Under-12 Division All-star team continued to
upset the competition in All-Star tournament play as it scored a 3-0
victory over Newport Beach and a 3-1 win over Corona del Mar.
HB Silver controlled the entire game against Newport Harbor, despite a
heavy wind. A scoreless game ended one minute into the second quarter
when Ri Hansler broke loose from the pack and put the ball into the net.
Later in the quarter, Hansler’s assist led the a Matt Weaver goal for a
2-0 lead. The start of the fourth quarter saw Jacob Sobelman provide the
match’s last score.
Against Corona del Mar, Ryan McNerney’s kick from the 18-yard line
gave HB Silver a 1-0 lead, which became 2-0 when Clayton Brown crossed
the ball to Hansler who passed to Bradley Hansen and Hansen was able to
put the ball past the Corona del Mar goalie.
In the fourth quarter, Steven Moore scored off a Borna Khavari pass to
complete the scoring.
The defensive efforts of Nick Constantini, Sammy Captan, Cary Pollard,
Kevin Wills and Eric Woodworth have relinquished only one goal in the
last three tournament games.
