Women honored for achievements

Laura Davick, Vera Martinez, Lucinda Prewitt, Jean Raun, K Turner,
and Natalie Zucker will be honored when the American Assn. of
University Women holds its sixth anniversary dinner celebrating women
leaders of Laguna Beach on Oct. 25.
Laura Davick, environment, saved the Crystal Cove cottages.
Vera Martinez, community, is in charge of facilities for Head
Start Orange County and was president of Santa Monica and Fullerton
colleges.
Lucinda “Cindy” Prewitt started the chamber music first Sunday
series, Laguna Beach Live and worked with the first Community Service
Program youth shelter in Laguna.
Jean Raun, public policy advocacy, was long time president of the
League of Women Voters and has worked many years on getting out the
vote.
K Turner, education, has been on the Laguna Unified School
District school board for 10 years and is winner of Orange County
Board of Education’s Outstanding Contribution to Education award.
Natalie Zucker, community service, has been a docent at the Laguna
Art Museum since 1997 and works with support groups for men with HIV
and/or Aids at Laguna Shanti.
The association has honored 41 women for their leadership service
to the Laguna community.
On Oct. 25 June Neptune, a 2001 honoree, will provide wine during
the 5:30 p.m. social hour with Ed Merilees on the keyboard. The
dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. at Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon
Road.
