Police are interviewing possible witnesses to the shooting death of a
man that occurred Friday evening near the intersection of Huntington
Street and Utica Avenue.
Police are not releasing the identity of the victim at this time.
Huntington Beach Police officers received a phone call at 8:40
p.m. Friday from a person who heard what they thought were gunshots,
said Lt. Dave Bunetta, of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Bunetta said that the 911 call likely came from a neighbor.
When the officers arrived they found a man had been shot and they
called for paramedics, police said. The man was transported to UCI
Medical Center where he died.
Police said they are interviewing people in the area who may have
seen what happened.
Bunetta said that some witnesses have told police they saw a car
speeding away from the scene, but there is no description of the
vehicle.
“We don’t know what the motive is at this point,” Bunetta said.
Police are not releasing any further information because the
investigation is ongoing and there are still potential witnesses that
need to be contacted.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting should contact Det.
Ellis at (714) 536-5971.
