COSTA MESA — Kyle Krogman pitched a complete-game seven-hitter to key the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Thursday.
Krogman struck out five with no walks to help OCC improve to 14-8, 6-5 in conference.
Trevor Jensen went two for four and scored twice, while Mykal Stokes, Matt Glazier and Steven McMichael all had one hit and one run batted in for OCC.
Golden West is 13-9, 5-5.
Vanguard 12, Biola 6
LA MIRADA — Kip Masuda and Tyson Leighton each had two home runs and five runs batted in to lead the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Thursday.
Masuda, who now has seven homers, was three for four, while Leighton, who leads the team with eight dingers, was three for five. Both scored two runs to help Vanguard improve to 24-5, 15-3 in conference.

LAKESIDE, Calif. — UC Irvine senior John Chin is the individual leader and the Anteaters are third as a team after the first day of competition Thursday at Barona Creek Golf Club.
Chin’s 36-hold total is eight-under-par 136, including a seven-under 65 in the opening round.
Chin is one shot ahead of San Diego State’s John Carlsson.
Max Greil is in eighth place for UCI, which has a 733 team score, which trails San Diego State (712) and Nevada (720).

Middlebury 2
COSTA MESA — Sandro Bucher won 12 of 15 games to sweep at No. 3 singles and lead the host Lions in the nonconference match Thursday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
No. 6-ranked Vanguard is now 8-5.
Middlebury, of Vermont, ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division III, is 7-2.

COSTA MESA — Melissa Boyer and Anna Walinowicz earned the lone singles wins for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Thursday.
Boyer won, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Walinowicz prevailed, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot.
OCC is 7-3, 4-3 in conference.

BOISE, Idaho — Khunpol Issara posted the lone singles victory for the visiting Anteaters in the nonconference match Thursday.
Issara won, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 6 singles.
Zac Tsai and Steven Henderson teamed to win, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles for UCI (11-5).
