NEWPORT BEACH — Alex Bauer struck out seven and gave up three hits in the shutout, helping the Sailors finish in third place at the La Quinta Tournament Friday.
Bauer went two for three and drove in two runs for Newport Harbor (7-1).
Costa Mesa’s Kira Mitani struck out seven and gave up five hits.

NEWPORT BEACH — Cody Caldwell led the Sailors with 15 kills in the nonleague match Friday.
Mira Costa, ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, swept No. 6-ranked Newport Harbor, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.
Will Connelly and Rusty Sary had 10 kills each, while Jackson Carmack had 43 assists and 10 digs for the Sailors (5-4).
Zack Martin and Austin Bagby added five kills each for Newport Harbor, which plays host to Fountain Valley in its Sunset League opener Tuesday.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Weston Nielsen led the Sea Kings with 10 kills and seven digs in the nonleague match Friday.
The Chargers, ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, beat No. 4-ranked CdM, 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-11.
Joey Booth had nine kills, Evan Dean had eight kills and Spencer Haly recorded seven kills for the Sea Kings (7-7).
Parker Brown had 20 assists and Nick Curci had 18 assists for CdM, which plays at Irvine Tuesday in its Pacific Coast League opener.

NEWPORT COAST — A.J. Wolfson went four for six with five runs batted in and five runs scored for the Lightning in their Academy League game Friday.
Allen Brown went four for six with three runs and two RBIs, Patrick Vorwerck went three for six with three RBIs and two runs and Michael Yorita was three for five with a walk, five runs and three RBIs for Sage Hill (5-4, 2-1 in league).
Mo Kreitenberg and Darren Hardy had two hits part of the Lightning’s 26-hit attack.
Sage Hill plays at Brethren Christian Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Andres Hernandez went four for four with three runs batted in for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Friday.
Josh Dominguez went two for five with a home run and Matt Carlyle was two for five with a double and two RBIs for Estancia (6-4, 2-0 in league).
Ryan Cherney went two for four with two RBIs for the Eagles.

IRVINE — Beau Attyah, Clark Cashion each recorded hits Friday, but the Sea Kings suffered their first Pacific Coast League loss.
Andrew Machoskie drove in a run for CdM (4-6, 2-1 in league), which plays host to San Juan Hills Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Alex Koeberle and Alex Manolakas swept in singles for the Lightning in the Academy League match Friday at The Tennis Club.
The No. 1 doubles team of Sean Batten and Spencer Apramian also swept for Sage Hill (3-8, 2-0 in league.

COSTA MESA — Kaitlin Yamamoto broke a school record in the pole vault, won three events and contributed to a victorious relay for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League meet at Estancia Thursday.
Yamamoto cleared 9 feet, 1 inch to win the pole vault. She also won the 100-meter hurdles and the 300 hurdles, and was part of the 1,600 relay team that won.
Marilyn Armstrong won the 100 and 200 and was on the winning 400 relay team. Hunter Strodel won the 800 and 1,600, while Rachel Daley won the high jump (a personal-best 5-3) and triple jump. Natalie Argueta and Jenny Daley were a part of both winning relay teams.
