Baseball: Former Chatsworth pitcher Josh Ravin gets win in MLB debut
Dodgers reliever Josh Ravin struck out one batter when he earned the win the second game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Tuesday.

It took 10 years in the minor leagues before former Chatsworth High pitcher Josh Ravin finally made his major league debut on Tuesday night for the Dodgers, but what a moment it was.
Ravin came in and got a strikeout in the eighth inning against the Colorado Rockies, throwing a 99 mph fastball. And he ended up as the winning pitcher in the Dodgers’ 9-8 victory.
“What a great story,” Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said. “It’s exciting. I’m happy for him. He’s someone who stuck with it for 10 years in the minors.”
Ravin, a 2006 Chatsworth graduate, threw in the upper 80s in high school but sometimes didn’t have complete command of his pitches. He was a fifth-round draft pick of the Reds. He persevered through his many years in the minors while continuing to see his velocity rise.
He texted Meusborn letting him know he had been called up.
Ravin has been a frequent participant in Chatsworth alumni games through the years.
After seeing his fastball climb to near 100 mph, Meusborn said, “I don’t think we’ll let him pitch.”
He’s the fourth Chatsworth grad since Meusborn became coach in 1990 to make it to the majors, joining Mike Moustakas, Matt Dominguez and Bryan Petersen.
