Baseball: Jacob Nix gets win in USA 18U exhibition win

UCLA-bound Jacob Nix from Los Alamitos threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win in the USA 18U baseball team’s 3-1 win over Chinese Taipei on Monday in an exhibition game in preparation for the IBAF “AAA” World Cup, which begins on Aug. 30 in Taiwan.
Harvard-Westlake pitcher Jack Flaherty, a North Carolina commit, started the game on the mound and allowed one run in three innings while striking out three.
Scott Hurst from Bishop Amat, a Cal State Fullerton commit, had a key sacrifice during a two-run eighth inning.
