The high school baseball season is about to begin, and several freshmen can be counted on to make major contributions.
Three certain impact players are outfielder Brice Turang of Corona Santiago, third baseman Jaden Fein of Royal and outfielder Grant Burton of Mater Dei. All three have received rave reviews from their coaches and played well in summer and fall ball.
Others who could step forward early on include Tony Bullard, a 6-foot-3 pitcher at Riverside JW North; 6-4 pitcher Blake Burzell and 6-2 shortstop Jeff Bruyntjens, both from Laguna Beach; Tanner Smith, an outfielder from Servite; Matt McLain, an infielder from Beckman; Kameron Ojeda, a catcher from St. John Bosco; Owen Sharts, a pitcher-third baseman from Simi Valley, and Zach Lew, an infielder from Orange Lutheran.
